Hainan’s 30-day visa-free rule

China’s National Immigration Administration lets holders of ordinary passports from 61 countries enter Hainan Province and stay up to 30 days without a visa. The allowed purposes include tourism, business, visits, family visits, medical treatment, conferences and sports. The policy does not cover work or study. You can enter through any open port in Hainan, which includes the international airports at Sanya and Haikou. The text we read was published on 20 August 2026; China Daily described the same policy in 2024 with 59 countries, so the list has grown.

Separately, 48 countries are on China’s mainland 30-day visa-free list until 31 December 2026, and Singapore and Malaysia have mutual 30-day exemptions with no end date announced. If your passport is on one of those lists you can also enter through the mainland, for example via Shenzhen or Guangzhou, and fly on to Hainan.

Visa-free stays are capped at 30 days. Plan your flights so that the camp, plus travel days, fits inside that. If the programme you choose is longer, you need a visa. We confirm the programme length with your dates.

Registration with the police

China’s Exit and Entry Administration Law requires every foreign visitor’s accommodation to be registered with the police. Hotels do it at check-in; for other accommodation, you or your host must register within 24 hours of arrival. We ask the camp to confirm how it registers foreign guests and send you the answer with your booking.
